E-LERT: Governor Brewer Signs SB 1305, Opts Arizona Out of Abortion Mandate in Federal Healthcare Package
In an exciting move for Pro-life supporters, Governor Jan Brewer has signed a bill into law that will protect millions of this state’s unborn by opting Arizona out of the Abortion Insurance Coverage mandate in the federal health care package. As announced Monday by Arizona Right to Life the Arizona State Senate passed the bill, sponsored by Glendale Senator Linda Gray, sending it to the Governor’s Desk. Governor Brewer, amid 40 pro-life legislators at the Center for Arizona Policy’s annual Family Dinner added her signature making Arizona the first state in the union to have a signed bill for the opt-out. As many as 28 states are considering similar bills, with Tennessee expecting to follow shortly. This is an impressive win for all those who advance the cause of life and work to advance pro-life legislation.
This is a landmark year in Arizona for protecting the unborn. The state legislature and Governor Brewer continue to pass and enact pro-life legislation throughout the process, and show their continued commitment to support life from conception to natural death.
Arizona Right to Life Would like to Show Continued Gratitude to Governor Jan Brewer for Her Signing the Latest Piece of Pro-Life Legislation.
With the signature of SB 1305, on Saturday night, and the last week’s signing of SB 1304, requiring stricter abortion reporting guidelines, Governor Brewer continues to show her continued support of advancing the Pro-Life agenda and protecting Arizona’s unborn children. Be sure to express your support and thanks of these bills, and encourage her to continue her support of pro-life legislation in the future.
