Arizona Right to Life Endorses Rick Santorum for President

Phoenix, AZ – Arizona Right to Life Political Action Committee (AZRTL PAC) today announced its endorsement of Rick Santorum in the Republican presidential primary. AZRTL PAC endorsed Rick Santorum based on his strong pro-life record and his leadership over the years.

Santorum authored the law banning partial-birth abortions, as well as the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, providing appropriate care for infants who survive an abortion. He was a member of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, and also sponsored legislation related to end of life issues. He continues to be an outspoken opponent of federal funding of abortion. The AZRTL PAC considered Santorum’s support of these priority issues in deciding to endorse him.

“There are few who are as articulate and passionate on life issues as Senator Santorum,” said Michelle Clements, president of Arizona Right to Life. “He not only voted the right way, he talks about the dignity and value of every human life whenever he has the opportunity, and he lives out those values in his own personal life. We are grateful for his leadership and proud to endorse him.”

AZRTL PAC acknowledges that all the Republican presidential candidates have declared they are pro-life, and that other candidates have strong pro-life voting records. Arizona Right to Life commends them for their support and defense of life.

“The one person we know is unapologetically pro-choice, even supporting partial-birth abortion and federal funding of abortion, is President Barack Obama,” said Clements. “This is a critically important election, and we take comfort in knowing that the Republican nominee will take a strong position in contrast to President Obama who is the only pro-choice candidate.”

“We encourage Arizonans to support Rick Santorum in the Republican presidential primary election Tuesday, February 28.”

For nearly 40 years Arizona Right to Life has been committed to articulating and protecting the right to life of all human beings, born and unborn. Dr. Gabrielle Goodrick

Who do we pray for outside of the clinic? Of course, for the men and women entering, of course for the babies, but also for Dr. Goodrick and her staff.

We are there to pray, love and be present for ALL involved in an abortion, including the abortion clinic workers.

Approximately 40 abortions take place at Camelback Family Planning each week. Dr. Goodrick has shared that due to a “quiet”  pro-life presence, women feel safer to come to her clinic for abortions.

It’s time to take our pro-life convictions and put them into action through prayer, fasting and community outreach.

That’s why we are here for this spring campaign, which will be the second 40 Days for Life effort outside of her clinic.

Please sign up to pray today!

40 Days for Life – Phoenix

Welcome to the Spring Phoenix 40 Days for Life campaign!

WARNING: There has been a young man at the clinic on and off since Thursday, February 23, 2012, with two guns. Because he is under 21, it is our understanding that he is required by law to have the guns in plain view. We also understand that the guns are properly licensed to him and that he has no criminal record. He has been seen holding a pro-choice sign. According to police, he has the right to counter-protest and to have his guns on him. He told the police he is concerned 40 Days for Life volunteers could be violent.

We plan to continue to pray at this clinic in love and peace. If you see this man, do not provoke him. He has exhibited intimidating behavior towards some volunteers and staff. The police are monitoring the situation closely and are frequently present when he is there. It is imperative that you sign-up BEFORE praying at the clinic so that we can provide you with any updates, as well as contact information for the 40 Days for Life campaign coordinator and the appropriate contact at the police department.

Thank you for your time and prayer. Now, more than ever, we need to take our pro-life convictions and put them into action. Lives are dependent on it. Be encouraged! You and your prayers are making a difference.

New York Judge Rules in favor of Pregnancy Centers

In a victory for the First Amendment and the right of free speech,  New York Federal district court judge William Pauley ruled yesterday that the New York City ordinance proscribing certain speech and requiring pro-life pregnancy centers to  post signs abortion advocates want put up to dissuade women from seeking alternatives as well as require the pregnancy centers to provide specific literature to women was unconstitutionally vague.

This marks the second such law struck down on constitutional grounds. The first ordinance passed in Baltimore, Maryland also attempted to control the rights of pro-life pregnancy centers.

Chris Slattery, the founder and Director of EMC Frontline, told LifeNews he is “thrilled by Judge William Pauley’s decision.”

“A victory was won in NYC today!  A judge has issued a ruling granting a preliminary injunction prohibiting a new pro-abortion law from taking effect in New York City.  The law would have placed harsh restrictions on pregnancy help centers offering women alternatives to abortion,” he added.

Slattery’s group was aided by the ACLJ while another pregnancy center was assisted by the ADF. Both organizations are known for their constant vigilance and defense of pro-life and pro-family organizations.

Pennsylvania Abortion mill still open in violation of the law

Pro-Life Blogs and Operation Rescue are reporting that despite court orders and efforts by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, an abortion mill run by the notorious Steven Brigham is still in operation according to the mill’s website.  Yet the media’s coverage of this and other violations by this and other abortionists has been very weak at best. For the full story, read here.

Las Vegas Abortionist Evicted

In a sign of the continuing implosion of the abortion industry, another abortion “clinic” has been closed. According to LifeNews, abortionist Frank Silver was evicted from his office on North Buffalo in Las Vegas on December 10,2010. The local pro-life community only recently discovered that he had been evicted. The abortion mill was located far from the street in a business park. Operation Rescue president Troy Newman told LifeNews today that when the eviction notice was posted, pro-life supporters were not immediately aware of it. Newman explained further. “We knew that this office had closed, but we only got news of Silver’s eviction last week. This eviction is just more evidence of a failing abortion industry and of an abortionist who cannot or will not follow the law and keep his contractual obligations.”

“The building was sealed by authorities with an orange sticker that reads “Warning, Keep Out,” but the sticker has been broken” Newman said.

“In 1991, there was an estimated 2,200 abortion clinics in the U.S. Today that number had dropped to 679, and continues to decrease by the month,” said Newman. “The closing of Silver’s clinic brings us another step closer to a final end to abortion in this nation.”

Steve Ertelt reports that Silver’s eviction comes after news that the Planned Parenthood abortion business closed one of its northern California centers.

Ertelt further reported that that closing came after Planned Parenthood of Central Texas announced last month it would close two of its centers that make abortion referrals to its main location. The affiliate of the national abortion business did not give any reasons for closing the locations in Groesbeck and Marlin, Texas.

These closings follow the permanent closure of a Planned Parenthood abortion referral center in Ohio. Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio is closing one of its centers north of Columbus, in Galion, because it says it is has come up on financial difficulties that make it necessary to consolidate.

LifeNews referenced a recent March report from STOPP International pointing out a decline in the number of Planned Parenthood centers for the fifth straight year. In 2010, the Parenthood Federation of America opened 18 new clinics and closed 49, bringing its total clinic number down to 785 – the lowest it has been since 1986.

Planned Parenthood ended the year with a total of 321 abortion facilities with 165 doing surgical abortions and giving out the abortion drug mifepristone, and another 156 dispensing the abortion drug but not doing surgical abortions. This represents an increase of 5.5 percent from the 304 abortion facilities it operated at the end of 2009. More than 40 percent of its centers do some type of abortion.

The STOPP report also noted that Planned Parenthood appears to have abandoned the “Express Clinic” concept begun in 2003: small storefront operations in smaller cities and rural areas where a freestanding facility prove too costly to operate. Although some facilities still carry the “Express” name, all have returned to offering the range of services and physical exams as is done at a standard PPFA clinic, the report says.

More than 400,000 attend March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Filling planes, trains and automobiles, hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers traveled to the nation’s capitol for the annual March for Life. The excitement and determination of the throng was especially evident as they marched from the mall to the steps of the Supreme Court building. There in front of the courthouse, members of “Silent No More” held signs which said that “We regret our abortion.” Many women provided testimony of the damaging effect that the abortion had in their lives.

Earlier in the day the crowd heard from organizer and founder Nellie Gray who introduced political, religious and public figures who spoke of the need to restore legal protection for the unborn child.

The weekend prior to the March saw numerous events, including a Students for Life Conference that brought together over1700 students from across the nation. The annual mass at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception was filled to capacity with over 10,000 participants. The next morning over 27, 000 students attended the mass at the Verizon Center.

Numerous meetings were held with representatives throughout the senate and congressional office buildings. following the march Rock for Life held a concert near the Union Station.

Pro-life leaders met throughout the weekend and discussed strategies for ending taxpayer funding of abortion giants such as Planned Parenthood. They focused energies on the repeal of  Obama’s Health Care bill. The ghastly shadows of the revelations out of Philadelphia were also on everyone’s mind. They returned home to renew their efforts to end legalized abortion in their states and throughout the nation.
