Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Arizona Right to Life opposes Embryonic Stem Cell Research because it unjustly destroys human beings in the embryonic stage of life in order to advance medical research. While we sympathize with the need to advance medical treatment for those who are suffering from serious diseases and conditions, we also must be certain that cures for those diseases do not come from unethical experiments conducted on members of the human community. Arizona Right to Life objects to Embryonic Stem Cell Research regardless of whether or not the embryos were already dead and/or discarded when stem-cell harvest began.
Arizona Right to Life does not oppose Adult Stem Cell Research, research on stem cells retrieved from cord blood or placenta after a baby’s birth, or induced pluripotent stem cell research, because retrieval of the cells does not injure or kill the source of the stem cells and the cells being researched in these cases are not human life.
